Respiratory diseases

Respiratory diseases

The lungs are the primary organ in the respiratory system, a group of organs and tissues that allow you to breathe. Respiratory diseases are diseases of the airways and other structures of the lung. There are many different lung diseases, some of which are caused by bacterial, viral, or fungal infections. Others are the result of environmental factors such as long-term exposure to particulate matter, for example smoking cigarettes or air pollution.

Common respiratory diseases

Many factors can lead to lung disease, both genetic and environmental. The most common respiratory diseases are asthma, a chronic inflammatory disease that causes the airways to become either narrowed by inflammation or blocked by mucus; Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), an obstructive lung disease; the genetic condition Cystic Fibrosis; lung cancer; tuberculosis, a bacterial lung disease; bronchitis; pneumonia, and emphysema.

Warning signs of respiratory diseases

Mild symptoms that don’t go away after a few days could indicate lung disease. Knowing the warning signs could lead to early detection and potentially life-saving treatment. Pay attention to any of the following: a chronic cough, shortness of breath, chronic mucus production, wheezing, coughing up blood, and chronic, unexplained chest pain. If you notice any of these symptoms, arrange an appointment to see your healthcare provider.

Preventing lung disease

Keeping your lungs healthy is key to protecting the respiratory system. Cigarette smoke, whether first or second-hand, is a major cause of lung cancer and COPD. Test your home for radon, a naturally occurring gas that can enter buildings through cracks and other holes in the foundation and damage the lining of the lungs. Wearing a respiratory mask can limit your exposure to outdoor air pollution and significantly improve the health of people suffering from respiratory diseases such as asthma or pulmonary fibrosis.

How our filtration helps

Filtration

Airinum masks use a multilayer filter technology to prevent factors that can cause or worsen respiratory diseases. Both the Urban Air Mask 2.0 and the Lite Air Mask filter out more than 99.9% of particles down to 0.3μm in size.

Submicron dust filtering:

The respiratory masks provide a submicron dust filtering capability to protect against PM2.5 and even smaller particles.

Certification:

The technology is tested at RISE R&D center in Sweden and is certified for GB 2626-2006 KN95, similar to an industrial N95 mask or N95 respirator.
